One calm step at a time
Here's the whole path, with how long each part usually takes and what to have nearby.
- Step 1
Choose your state
Your state page gathers the official links and phone numbers in one place.
- Step 2
Food and health coverage
Start with SNAP (food) and WIC, then Medicaid or CHIP for the kids. These are often the quickest help to arrive.
- Step 3
Cash help, child care and bills
Look at TANF cash help, child care assistance, and energy bill help (LIHEAP).
- Step 4
Stuck? Call 211
Dial 211, free and private, any time. A real person can point you to local food, rent and utility help.
Every state and DC
Each page links only to official sites.
Who we are
This site is made by a parent, for parents. We built it because finding help shouldn't mean digging through twenty websites while the kids need dinner. We don't run these programs and we never see your applications. We just keep the official links in one place and check them regularly. If we ever show ads, they'll be clearly labeled, and we never allow misleading or inappropriate ones.
If today is too much, that's okay. Call 211 and let someone help you sort it out. You've got this.
